HW262 Single Conductor Power Cable 2KV Armored 110°C

Type P Marine Shipboard is a Marine Cable specially made to ai d rigorous offshore activities like drilling. If you are looking for a quality cable to aid power transmission in an ocean-based drilling machine then this is the cable for you. Offshore drilling and petroleum facilities call for special kinds of cables because the marine environment can get so rough courtesy of the ocean current which come waves; the wave send impulses through the drilling machines and these disturbances may affect power transmission.Cables used in offshore applications are also challenged with salt corrosion, mechanical stress generated by the drill engines, enormous heat generated by the engines and vibrations generated by the drill. But with the Type P Marine Shipboard Single Conductor Power Cable you can be sure that your power transmission system is safe and reliable regardless of the operating environments.

Specifications
It is 2kV armored 1100C based on the IEEE standard 45 with 450 C and arranged in a single bank per hanger. This means that the cable can safely transmit power of up to 2000 kilovolts at temperatures of up to 1100 C. It has a Gelox insulation and thus meeting the requirements for Type P of IEEE 1580 and Type X110 of UL 1309/CSA 245.2000V/IEC 1000V.

The cable is a single conductor which is a soft annealed flexible stranded tinned copper per IEEE1580 table 11. Soft stranded tinned copper ensures high efficiency in power transmission and the flexibility makes it easier to roll, fold or install as compared to rigid cables.

What Makes the Type P Marine Shipboard appropriate for offshore Drilling?
Conductor;
The Type P Marine Shipboard cable has high strand conductors that makes the cable to be very flexible. The flexibility is ideal for moving parts as in oil rigs and shipboards. As earlier mentioned the cable has soft annealed flexible stranded tinned copper per IEEE 1580 Table 11. This feature makes installation of this cable easier and more resistant to vibrations as compared to the typical Type MC commercial cable.

Insulation/ Jacket;
The cable has a Gelox insulation which has a lower dielectric constant and higher insulation resistance that cuts down flame retardant cross-linked polyolefin and thus is in accordance with the requirements for electrical losses for type P of IEEE 1580 and Type MC X110 of UL 1309/CSA C22.2 . One of the most interesting qualities of this cable’s insulator is its compliance with UL 1309/CSA 245.

The standard describes an insulator of low toxin content and low levels of corrosive gas emissions during a fire breakout. The low levels of toxins makes it very safe to use in any environment without fears of the users getting contaminated with the toxins. The low corrosive gas emission attribute on the other hand is appropriate for wet environments where corrosive gases would react with water to form rust; corrosion could adversely affects the transmission capabilities of the cable.

However, unlike the Type P Marine Shipboard, this cable is armored using a braided bronze or tinned copper. The armoring makes it a lot safer for use to avoid electrocution but not a must. At Nassau Electrical, we do the armoring on special request by our customers.

Ratings, certifications and approvals
There are many recognized bodies that approve wire products to ensure that they are of good quality. The Type P Marine Shipboard has been tested, tried and proved to be of good quality by a number of internationally renowned standard organizations including the following;

1.Llyod’s Register of Shipping (LRS)
2.American Bureau of Shipping (ABS)
3.Det Norske Veritas (DNV)
4.Transport Canada
5.UL listed as Marine Shipboard Cable
6.United States Coast Guard
7.NVE 95/1696 FAL

Applications
The Type P Marine Shipboard cable is listed as UL listed marine shipboard cable and has been designed and constructed for harsh and demanding environments of offshore drilling and petroleum facilities located all over the world. The cable is excellent for use in class 1, division 1 and zone 1 conditions.
