
Product Details
This cable is made of soft and malleable copper conductors whichare insulated with Polyrad XT-125 cross linked polyolefin and sheathed with XL-Chlorinated Polyethylene. They are color coded for easy identification. The cable is meant to serve voltages at 600V/1000V in offshore and onshore oil and gas drilling rigs.
Features
1.Conductors
Tinned and annealed copper conductors improves the protection and flexibility of the cable. Tinning is the coating of copper conductors with thin metallic layer making it corrosive resistant. Annealing make the conductor soft and malleable. Type P cables are flexible and easy to handle with less termination time.
2.Insulation
The Polyrad XT irradiated XLPO insulation forms a boundary between the conductors and the grounding wires ensuring that they don’t get into contacts that would cause electric failures, enhancing electric conductivity of the cable. XLPO is a non-conducting layer thus preventing the user from suffering electric shocks. This layer also provides chemical and mechanical protection to the cable during and after installation.
3.Sheathing
MOR (Mud Oil Resistant) cross linked chlorinated polyethylene (XL-CPE) is mud resistance, keeping the cable safe from damages associated with mud or silt in the marine environments. The cable has a high temperature rating at 125 degrees Celsius withstanding greater ampacities hence improving the service life.
Applications
Used in land-based oil and gas drills in Class 1 Division 2, offshore drilling rigs, ships, FPSOs and MODUs.
