A nickel-plated copper cable for use in high temperature applications. A 2 percent nickel plating thickness by product weight gives more protection against temperature. Nickel is one of the substrates used to coat copper conductors and is considered to have a very high thermal performance. It can withstand temperatures as high as 750 degrees Celsius. Also, nickel prevents oxidation of the conductor. Copper substrate tends to reduce its ability to prevent oxidation at higher temperature. The use of nickel in coating the conductor allows it to be used in high temperature applications without suffering oxidation. Nickel coating also reduces corrosion.
Applications
• Used in industrial high temperature environments
• For use in application of up to 250 degrees Celsius and needing up to 600 volts
• This multiple conductor cable is extensively used in applications where small OD is needed. It is used in industrial high temperature environments demanding protection against mechanical abuse, abrasion, fluid contact, or moisture absorption. The wire has found wide use in steam lines, chemical processing plants, environments around boilers, and in steel or glass manufacturing plants.
Insulation
• Extruded perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) fluoropolymer
• The wire is insulated with FEP fluoropolymer which offers resistance against water, acids, moisture, degreaser solvents, heat, oil, abrasion, alkali, and ozone. An overall binder tape Nomex is used to add more protection.
Outer jacketing
• Extruded perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) fluoropolymer
• An outer jacket made of extruded perfluoroalkoxy (PFA) material is used to provide further protection.
Characteristics
• PFA leads have outstanding chemical, fluid, age, and ozone resistance.
• Fillers, where needed, are made with flame impervious fibers with moisture repellent finish.
• Cable utilizes Radix “Torque Free” design. This eliminates memory found in traditional right hand or left hand twisted cables.
• Small diameter.
