These RSCC Aerodefense MIL-DTL-24643 thermocouple cables are designed for use in applications where protection from electrostatic and safety are needed. There are different thermocouples and each one of them has its unique features regarding durability, chemical resistance, vibration resistance, temperature range, and application compatibility. Thermocouples are made up of two legs of wires, which are of different metals. The MIL-DTL-24643/21 and 24 thermocouple wire cables may be made of iron and constantan, copper, and constantan, or chromel and alumel.

Insulation
• Watertight silicone and glass braids
• An insulation made of up of a combination of silicone and glass braids is used to installed these cables. Fiberglass is a material that can operate in high temperatures. It can work well in temperatures reaching up to 482 degrees Celsius. It is moisture resistant, chemical resistant, and at least fairly resists abrasion. Silicone is a flexible material with long shelf life. It has good bonding abilities and its operating temperatures can be as high as 180 degrees Celsius. It is flame retardant and offers excellent resistance to heat. The use of this combination of materials ensures that the circuits continue to perform even in exposure to catastrophic fire.

Jacketing
• Irradiation cross-linked low smoke polyolefin- for MIL-DTL-24643/21
• Low smoke red silicone rubber – for MIL-DTL-24643/24
• MIL-DTL- 24643/21 thermocouple wire is jacketed with XL low smoke polyolefin. This material is fire retardant, it is resistant to chemicals and UV light. Cross-linked polyolefin or XLPO is regarded as halogen free. It does not produce harmful substances or gases when burned or exposed to heat and fire. MIL-DTL- 24643/24 thermocouple cable is jacketed with MIL-DTL-24643/24. Silicone is highly flexible, it is extremely heat resistant, but has moderate abrasion resistance. It is flame retardant and has an outstanding shelf life.
