Product Details
A marine signal cable made of bare copper wire. The bare copper cable allows for excellent conductivity. By bare, it does not mean the cable is not tinned. It goes through the tinning process on that the layer is so light to alter the electrical as well as the thermal properties of the copper material. Bare copper conductors are relatively cheaper and considered better conductors in relation to tinned copper cables. However, you may want to use bare copper conductors in specific installations especially where the temperatures are not so high.
Applications
• The cables are designed for use in marine environments including marine vessels, off shore drilling rigs, floating offshore facilities, and in fixed offshore and onshore facilities.
• You may use these cables for signal transmission installations in marine environments. The cables have twisted conductors and are ideal where shielding is required to offer protection against electromagnetic and electrostatic interferences. Some of the typical applications include CO2 systems, fire detectors, communication systems, gas detectors, smoke detectors, and tank level indicators.
Insulation and jacket
• PVC
• Polyvinyl chloride, the commonest thermoplastic insulator is used to protect the conductor. It resists fire, flame, sunlight, oils, and chemicals. It is also resistant to abrasion.
Sheathing
• Nylon
• In addition to the insulation, a sheathing material made of nylon is used to provide more protection from chemical damage and physical impact.
Armor
• Bronze or aluminum armor
• The armor materials provide protection against crush, cold bend, and cold impact.
