This flexible stranded nickel coated copper wire is designed for use in high temperature locations. Its 2% nickel plating ensures that the cable performs well in environments where corrosion is likely to be witnessed. The nickel plating also improves the thermal performance of the cable while also ensuring good conductivity. Nickel can excellently resist environmental influences caused by elements such as reducing chemicals, salty sprays, and alkalis. It is for this reason the nickel plating can protect the cable from corrosion. On top of that nickel has low hardness and offers substantial ductility in annealed condition.

Applications
• For use applications of up to 250 degrees Celsius and operations requiring up to 600 volts
• The cable may be used around blast furnaces and in applications that are subject to sparks and splashing metal. It is also used in application where repeated heating and cooling are needed.

Insulation
• Fused PTFE fluoropolymer tape – under mica tape
• A fused PTFE fluoropolymer tape is used under mica tape consisting of a fiberglass braided cover on each conductor. The PTFE tape works in a wide temperature range and has low smoke generation. It is resistance to moisture, chemicals, flame, and solvents. It is also resistant to abrasion. Mica tape on the other hand has excellent resistance to high temperatures, and can counter harsh thermal and electrical loads. Because the mica tape has scrim back, it ensures good mechanical strength of the cable. Over the insulation, there is overall binder tapes made also of fused PTFE fluoropolymer tape wrapping under the mica tape.

Outer jacketing
• Glass braid
• A glass braid jacketing impregnated using a heat and moisture-resistant finish is used to offer more protection to the insulation. Stainless steel armor is also present on the outer covering.

Characteristics
• Moisture, oil, fluid and abrasion resistant.
• Fillers, where needed, are made with flame-impervious fibers with moisture-repellent finish.
• Cable utilizes Radix “Torque Free” design. This eliminates memory found in traditional right-hand or left-hand twisted cables.
• Stainless steel jacket provides mechanical strength for severe duty applications.
• Not recommended for outdoor use.
