Type SHD-CGC cable comes in flexible tinned copper wires with a ground check conductor. The copper conductors are closely bonded with a ground check conductor that has a yellow color coded insulation; the tinned copper conductors are then insulated with an EPR. Ethylene Propylene Rubber insulation is shielded with a tinned copper and nylon braided layer and covered with a semiconducting stranded shield and taped. Non-conducting separating tape is again applied round the core to hold the conductors firmly in their position. A grounding wire is then laid on the assembly and jacketed with a CPE.

Superb Ethylene Propylene Insulation and Chlorinated Polyethylene (CPE) jacketing offers a great protection against harsh environmental conditions to this cable and the user as well. EPR insulation keeps the user from electrocution and the copper conductors from chemical and mechanical damages. CPE jacketing is the outer covering coat that provides the outermost defensive mechanism to fungal attack, deformations, sunlight radiations, corrosion and moisture hence improving the service life of the cable.
Applications
This cable is intended to serve in mining power distribution channels for voltages not exceeding 2000V at an optimal operating temperature of 900C. It is installed in applications of loaders, conveyors, drills, pumps and equipment requiring ground checking conductor.
