Description:
Type thhn wire is a certified tray cable specifically meant for tough industrial applications. Majority of electrical wires and cables are categorized into AWG sizes. VNTC type thwn wire has an average size of 10 to 14 AWG. It has up to five stranded copper conductors. Two of the conductors are flat, while the other three have a twisted construction. The conductors can supply current of up to 600 volts.
Furthermore the thhn thwn wire has an additional bare copper grounding conductor which is same in size with the circuit conductors. The grounding conductor emits excess current to the ground, which prevents short circuits and other electrical related hazards. The conductors can operate in temperatures of 90°C and 75°C for both dry and wet conditions respectively. Each of the conductors is color coded to allow easy identification of the individual conductors.
Features:
• 5 or more copper conductors
• Flame retardant
• Color coded conductors
• Voltage rating of 600 volts
• Printed cable jacket
• Grounding wire
• Sturdy jacket
• Meets various industrial standards
• Oil and sunlight resistant
• Approved for direct burial
Jacketing:
The jacketing of thwn wires is made of polyvinyl chloride (PVC). This is a synthetic plastic polymer which is widely used all over the world for insulating electrical cables. It’s widely known for its resistance against corrosion. The jacket protects the internal components of the cable from sunlight, flames, chemicals, impact, abrasion and industrial solvents.
Applications:
• Cable trays as specified by NEC Article 336
• Remote control and signaling circuits
• Suitable for hazardous locations
• Can be installed in air, ducts or conduits
• Suitable for direct burial
Industrial Approvals:
• UL Listed
• IEEE Flame test
• Individual conductors listed by UL as type thhn thwn
• NEC Article 336 as Type TC Tray cable
• ICEA hour test
