Product Details

Type MC-HL power cable is made of two types of conductors namely; bare annealed copper conductors in accordance to ASTM B3, and the compacted strands which are in line with ASTM B496. The use of copper for construction of conductors affirms the good electrical conductivity of this cable, as it is continuously a preferred choice. The conductors of type MC-HL cable have extrusions of a stranded thermoset shield and are insulated with an Ethylene Propylene Rubber (EPR), which is color coded black, red and blue.

A complete electrical cable should have live conductors, proper insulation and a grounding wire. Type MC-HL insulated conductors are encased with a bare grounding conductor, which is also made of bare Class B stranded annealed copper conductor. The grounding wire acts as the neutral path and is not in contact with the live copper conductors, and it is sized as per the Underwriters Laboratory (UL) 1072 and NEC, 250.122. Assembly of this cable is then encased with a non-hygroscopic filler and wrapped with a binder tape around the core.

CCW refers to a Continuously Corrugated and Welded armor. This armor covers the entire assembly and jacketed with an outer coat made of PVC. CCW armor is made of strong aluminum alloy and is used as an interlocking sheath, meeting the standards of UL 1072 as well as UL 1569. PVC jacketing refers to polyvinyl chloride that offers great protection to the cable from environmental attack. It is yellow color codedfor easy identification and is in line with ASTM D746 approving its brittleness.

Standards and Approvals

1.ICEA S-96-659/WC71 for Non Shielded Cables Rated 2001 to 5000 volts
2.UL 1072 Medium Voltage cable
3.UL 1569 Metal cladding cable
4.IEEE 1202, CSA FT4 for flame tests
5.Complies to ABS (American Bureau of Shipping)
6.UL Listed marine shipboard

Why go for this Cable?
The extruded thermosetting semi-conductor layer offers stress control to the cable, thus preventing it from breaking. This layer ensures that the copper conductors are firmly held in place to prevent them from collapsing, thus enhancing good electrical conductivity of tis cable. It is also color coded for easy phase identification. During installation color coded cables are easily identified thus keeping you away from unnecessary confusions.

Copper conductors are separated from the grounding wire by an ethylene propylene rubber insulator. EPR creates a permanent boundary ensuring that the conductors and the neutral path do not get into any contact, thus improving electrical conductivity of this cable. When live copper conductors get into contact with the grounding conductor, power blows is likely to occur causing electric failures to your system rendering your entire machine systems to shut down.

Continuously Corrugated and Welded armor is made of strong aluminum strip that is an adaptive feature protecting the cable from creeping, abrasion, wear and tear. When pulling the cable along the ground friction is likely to build up causing wear and tear to your cable. CCW armor offers great resistance to wear and tear, moisture, gas and liquids.

Polyvinyl Chloride jacketing is a tough plastic layer that provides a superb protection to the cable from harsh conditions in the environment during and after installation. It is flame retardant and will burn slowly in case of fire outbreak thus giving you enough time to contact fire extinguishers. Power cables should be kept free from moisture and for this cable, worry no more because the PVC jacketing will ensures a no entry for moisture into your cable. PVC is also sun light resistant and non-biodegradable thus do not decompose.

Applications
It is designed primarily for direct burial installation. However, you can as well install it through race way systems, conduits, cable trays in wet or dry conditions. This cable is applied vastly in different fields such as wiring of AC motors, offshore oil drills, feeders and branch circuits.
