This cable has been designed for installation where higher shielding levels may be needed. The cables are used aboard ships and can also be used on the ship’s hull. The non-watertight zero halogen, low smoke shipboard cables come in different sizes and configurations.

Applications
• For use on shipboards
• The cable may be outside the hull of a ship. They are a money save when used for installation compared to the method of passing cables through conduits. Pulling cables through conduit is not only difficult but also labor intensive. The cables may be used inboards thereby ensuring that the cables are placed together while not worrying about interferences from some other cables.

Jacketing
• Irradiation cross-linked low smoke polyolefin
• A low smoke polyolefin material is used to form the jacket for the cable. A jacket protects the cable from further wear and tear from environmental and mechanical forces. Polyolefin is resistant to various elements which include chemical and UV light. Polyolefin is also zero halogen substance meaning that when it is burned or exposed to elements like flame and fire, it does not produce gases that can harm people. Therefore, it is used for application where safety and protection from environmental factors are needed.
