This cable is the jacketed version of the Armorlite® Type MC Cable. This cable combines versatile THHN/THWN approved conductor with aluminum interlocked armor plus an added polyvinyl chloride jacket. THHN copper conductors are Thermoplastic High Heat-resistant Nylon coated. The acronym mainly refers to the nylon insulation that protects the cable from high heat and corrosion. With the added THWN approval, the cable is also deemed as water resistant. The assembly includes an insulated copper stranded grounding conductor to ensure steady conductivity over the life of the cable. The assembly of conductors is cabled together and wrapped in binder tape to sit firmly in place. The assembly is then encased in an aluminum interlocked armor that protects the conductors from being jarred or interfered with by outside objects. The exterior armor is coated with a polyvinyl chloride (PVC) jacket that is sunlight and moisture resistant.
Armorlite® Type MC PVC Jacketed Copper Conductors cable is designed for installation in branch, feeder, and service power distribution. The Armorlite® Type MC PVC Jacketed Copper Conductors cable can be used in residential, multi-residential, institutional, industrial, and commercial buildings. It is most often used for control, power, lighting, and signal circuits. The cable is usually installed in cable tray or approved raceways but can also be fished or embedded in plaster. The cable is approved for use in hazardous locations as specified by NEC. The cable has a maximum conductor temperature for continuous operation at 90°C and can transmit ampacities up to 600 volts.
