Conductor: The conductor is stranded in accordance with AAR specification 591. The wires are soft, annealed copper with a continuous coating of tin (98.0% conductivity) in accordance with ASTM B33.

Insulation: Ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) to comply with AAR specification 591. Insulation is heat, oil and moisture-resistant and rated for 75°C wet and 90°C dry continuous operating conditions. An opaque polyester tape or other suitable separator is used over the conductor.

Jacket: Chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) to comply with AAR specification 591. The jacket is bonded to the EPR insulation.

Surface marking: The jacket surface shall be printed or indented with: DRAKA (sequential footage every two feet).

Applications: These are single conductor 600/2000 volt cables designed for use in powering diesel/electric traction wheels. They consist of an ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) insulated conductor and a chlorosulfonated polyethylene (CSPE) jacket. They meet AAR 591, are highly heat, oil and moisture-resistant, extremely flexible, and can sustain 75°C wet/90°C dry operating temperatures.
