Product Details
The HW050 600V wire is made of tinned and annealed copper conductors in accordance to ASTM B33 and ASTM B8. They are insulated with extrusions of the thermoplastic cross linked polyethylene, which is flame retardant. It is designed with an operational voltage of 600V and temperature at 900C. This is a quality power cable that conforms to all the necessary International Laboratory requirements.
Features
1.Conductor’s size
Copper conductor is rated at 18 through 10 AWG with seven strands. It measures 0.11 and 0.18 inches in diameter respectively, adding to 10 and 42 Lbs/Mft weight of the cable. Generally, the cable is lightweight and can easily be handled.
2.Conductor’s workability
Tinning and annealing the copper conductors improves their electrical performance and service life. Tinned conductors are coated with a thin metallic layer which makes them smooth and oxidative resistant. Smoothing of the conductor’s surface eliminates friction build ups during installation, on the other hand, oxidative resistance conductor will not succumb to corrosion by the corrosive industrial chemicals thus improving durability.
Annealed copper conductor is more soft and flexible then stiff compacted conductors. It is the process of heating the conductor making it malleable without losing its electrical conductive properties. The process adds to the flexibility aspect of Type HW050 Cable, a thing to go by as it will relieve the user from applying excessive effort when twisting and folding the cable.
3.Insulation
The conductors are insulated with an extruded cross linked Polyethylene polymer. Thermosetting XLPE insulation thickness of HW050 Cable is 30 Mils and color coded for easy identification. This layer offers a superb chemical and mechanical protection to the cable from harsh environmental conditions. It is flame retardant, abrasive resistant and water resistance. XLPE is also non-conducting and do not expose the user to risks associated with electric shocks.
Applications
HW050 Switchboard wire is meant for use with switchboards in both wet and dry locations. The cable is a desired choice for utility substation switchboard and raceway systems.
