General Cable EmPowr® 15 kV Copper Wire PVC Jacket Link and Shielded Power Cable Al Conductor TRXLPE Insulation

Product Details

This cable features a solid or Class B compacted and concentrically stranded aluminum conductor that is closely shielded with a lead-free thermosetting semi-conductor extruded shielding layer and coated with TRXLPE insulation. TRXLPE simply refers to Tree-Retardant Cross Linked Polyethylene that has extrusions and is unfilled and lead free. The insulation is longitudinally bonded with another lead free shielding thermosetting layer, then helically rounded by a non-metallic tape made of annealed bare copper wire and jacketed with the polyvinyl chloride.

It is tested and approved as a top quality cable after meeting all the necessary Underwriters Laboratory standards. TRXLPE insulation conforms to the requirements of AEIC and ANSI/ICEA S-97-682. This cable has three different temperature operating ratings; performs at 90 degrees Celsius in normal power lines, 130 degrees Celsius for emergency wiring systems and at 250 degrees Celsius for short circuits.

Why go for this cable?
You will agree with me that EmPower TRXLPE power cable and the one discussed above are made of similar products, except the introduction of the Tree-Retardant Cross Linked Polyethylene insulation on this cable. However, this is a cable to go by because it is properly shielded with lead-free thermosetting semi-conducting layers and the copper wire shield, which ensures that the aluminum conductors of this cable are not affected by any form of stress or external forces. Shielding prevents further direct contacts to the conductors and helps in maintaining them in their positions hence improving the electrical conductivity of this cable.

Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) jacketing compound offers a superb resistant to creep, sunlight radiation, moisture, flame and corrosive chemicals for the cable. During installation cables may be pulled along the ground causing friction to build up and attempt to cause creeping, wear and tear to your cable; worry no more because the PVC coat will keep your cable safe as it protects your cable from creeping. It is black color coded for easy identification thus avoiding confusion that may occur during installation. Lead free products releases less smoke in case of fire outbreaks making them environmental friendly.
