A 27% nickel coated copper cable made of flexible strands. Its nickel coating makes it perform excellently in high temperature environments. The Tempergard 2000 high temperature cable is used in application where temperatures range between 450 degrees Celsius and 538 degrees Celsius and voltage of up to 600 volts. Nickel offers good resistance to corrosion and it is easy to weld. The excellent corrosion protection from nickel is due to its high resistance to elements like salt stray, alkalis, and reducing chemicals.

Applications :
• Under normal service conditions, the cable may be used in locations experiencing continuous temperatures of 450 degrees Celsius.
• For intermittent periods, it may be used in applications that can have peak temperatures of 538 degrees Celsius.
• Meant to be used in wiring circuits where there is need for preservation of the circuit integrity under high temperature, abusive environment and resistance to flame, oil, abrasion, and other fluids. This cable is used in glass manufacturing plants, steel production plants, iron production plants, petrochemical as well as in pyrometallurgical plants. It is also used in aluminum manufacturing plants and in paper manufacturing industries.

Insulation :
• Reinforced mica tape- braided
• A reinforced mica tape consisting of fiberglass braid cover is used to insulate each conductor. Mica tape insulation is made of a composite tape containing a glass scrim back to ensure more mechanical strength. This kind of insulation is ideal for more demanding applications. As a primary insulation on this wire, it can resist radiation and moisture. It also can withstand hard thermal loads and electrical overloads. In addition to the primary insulation, the cable has overall binder tapes made of reinforced mica. These binder tapes are resistance to flame and heat.

Outer jacketing :
• Braided fiberglass
• A braided fiberglass containing a high temperature finish is used to provide a jacket for the wire. There is also optional wire braid made of nickel, stainless steel, or nickel-plated copper.

Characteristics:
• Moisture, oil, fluid and abrasion resistant.
• Fillers, where needed, are made with flame-impervious fibers with moisture-repellent finish.
• Cable utilizes Radix “Torque Free” design. This eliminates memory found in traditional right-hand or left-hand twisted cables.
• Binder tapes provide heat and moisture resistance.
• Not recommended for outdoor use.
