Corning’s ALTOS® ribbon cables are based upon the reliable stranded loose tube cable construction that has long been an industry standard. Ribbon stacks are contained within color-coded buffer tubes stranded around a central member, enabling isolated access to individual stacks using methods and procedures familiar to installers and technicians. The SZ-stranded, flexible buffer tubes also isolate ribbons from installation and environmental rigors.

Corning is one of only two ribbon cable manufacturers to offer a stranded tube design with fiber counts up to 1728. Ribbon cables enable mass-fusion splicing, with 12 fibers spliced in a single procedure for easier fiber management, faster network builds and quicker restoration following fiber/cable cuts. Each fiber ribbon is printed with a unique ID for ease of identification.
