This is a bare stranded copper conductor of size 8 as per American Wire Gauge (AWG). Which is wrapped round with a high temperature mica tape layer and insulated with Low Smoke Zero Halogen (LSZH). A complete electrical cable should comprise of live conductors, grounding wire (neutral) and a proper insulation. Here the insulated copper conductors are bonded with the grounding wire and jacketed together with the cross linked polyolefin.

Specifications and Ratings

1.UL 44, thermoset insulated wires and cables
2.RHW-2 600 Volt and 90 degrees Celsius
3.Flame Test, FT 4
4.IEEE 1202
5.UL 2196 standard test for fire resistant cables.

Why go for this cable?
Soft copper conductors used in the construction of this cable, makes it more flexible. During installation, flexibility is an aspect to go by because flexible cables are not tiresome to handle. They require little energy to bend and carry along. This type of cable is recommended especially in tall building installations, where you may want to fold the cable and lift it up the floors.

Mica tape layer has a high thermal conductivity and this affirms why this cable can endure high heat temperatures. Low Smoke Zero Halogen insulation keeps you safe as well as the cable. Well, halogen refers to highly corrosive and flammable chemicals. You need a cable that can withstand damages caused by flames, corrosive chemicals and abrasion. LSZH insulation protects the cable from such damages as well as keeping you away from electrocution. No to forget preventing any contact that may build up between the live conductors and grounding wire.

Applications
You should go for right cables based on the areas of applications that you are going to install them in. As for this Prysmian and Draka cable, has a great fire resistance as per UL 2196 and is designed to survive a two hour fire. A power cable with such great features is widely applied in various types of fields like fire pumps, elevators, ventilation fans, oil drills, tall buildings etc.
