This Low volt offshore cable is constructed in the same fashion as the Prysmian and Draka Air-guard discussed above. It is made of two wires; soft drawn copper conductors and stranded Class B bare conductors. These conductors are shielded away from the draining wire by a cross liked polyethylene insulation and wrapped with non-hygroscopic fillers, to prevent them from getting into contact. Insulated conductors are then twisted together with the draining wire, encased with a polyester or aluminum tape. The assembly is then armored with an air-bag and coated with an outer sheath of thermoplastic layer.
Draining wire of this offshore cable is tinned. Tinning of wires helps in improving their solderability, as well as improving resistivity to corrosion and friction.
