Aluminum Electrical Service Drop Cable is a 4-conductor assembly of aluminum alloy 1350-H19 conductors. 1350-H19 is a 99.5% aluminum alloy with added metals to increase the cable’s conductivity, strength, and resistance to corrosion. The assembly includes 3 phase conductors and one neutral messenger wire that is available in 6201-T81 aluminum alloy, all aluminum or aluminum-clad steel reinforced. The conductors are insulated with a polyethylene jacket that protects the conductors from excessive heat, dryness, moisture, or other corrosive elements.
The Quadruplex Overhead wire typically delivers power from a pole-mounted transformer to an individual residence or building where the service entrance cable connects with the service head. The Quadruplex Aluminum Service Drop Cable can be used in a wide range of climates with the ability to function in temperatures between 75°C and 90°C, depending on the insulation. The conductors are insulated with the option of a standard polyethylene or a crosslinked polyethylene. For installation in mild climates where weather will not likely be a factor, standard polyethylene insulation can resist heat up to 75°C. For harsher regions such as tropical islands or arid desert locations, the crosslinked polyethylene can handle temperatures up to 90°C.
