Category CAT 6 Riser Cable

A riser cable is generally used to network from room to room, p rovided it goes around baseboards, along tops of walls and also bottoms of walls. This type of cable runs between floors in non- plenum locations.You can actually use a riser cable to run cables from the ground floor to any upper floor on condition that you do not take the riser cable through an air duct. Although riser cables are generally used for residential buildings, they can be used also in commercial spaces. Nassau Electrical Supply offers a wide range of riser cables among them the Category 6 riser cable. It has exceptional performance and great signal power. Unlike other similar cables in the market, you will love the features and benefits that come with this cable. It has been taken through top notch technology and its installation will give you peace of mind.

Construction
Nassau Electrical Category 6 Riser Cable is a four pair cable that has been made with soft annealed copper conductors. The copper plays a huge role in connectivity as it improves signal strength of the cable. The cable has been insulated with Fluorinated Ethylene Propylene (FEP).  This enables it to be resistant to corrosion. The jacketing material is a low smoke Polyvinyl chloride.

Features and benefits of the CAT 6 Riser Cable
The Category 6 Riser Cable is made of more copper. This ensures the cable is flexible enough to bend around corners of ceilings and baseboard and cut according to the needs of the user. According to the regulations set by NEC, the cable is not supposed to stretch beyond the 100 meters limit. In such a case you need to place a bridge in between to boost signals. Another benefit that comes with the use of copper is that it is a good conductor. A thick copper core enables the signal to transmit more power as compared to a thinner core.

Installation of the cable is quite easy and fast. This is thanks to the bonded pair technology which makes your installation robust. This feature also improves system uptime. It also has central x or tape fillers which work to improve cross talk and signal to noise performance. Another great thing about this cable is that it has passed the vertical burn test. This ascertains that the cable self- extinguishes and helps the flame not to move up the category 6 riser cable.

One slight disadvantage that comes with this cable is that a little spreading may take place during fire outbreaks. When this occurs, it may emit toxic gasses to the air. This is a little issue to take concern over as in the event the gasses are taken in, it is not much to worry about provided the cable is not utilized in air ducts.

Other Specifications and Certifications of the CAT 6 Riser Cable
The National Electrical Code (NEC) has come up with cable standards and requirements which Nassau Electrical adheres to during the manufacture of our cables. The following are some of the specifications that the Category 6 riser cable meets;

1.UL 444- all data cables need to be described in UL standard 444.

2.UL 1666- this is a fire test done to determine the values of flame propagation height in optical and electrical cables that are usually vertically installed in shafts or in vertical runs which penetrate one or several floors.

3.ANSI/TIA 568- C.2- this standard sets to get rid of any misunderstandings that between manufacturers and purchasers and enable buyers choose the right product for their requirements.

4.2011 National Electrical Code

5.NFPA 262- this is the standard method of test for flame travel and smoke of wires and cables for use in air handling spaces, 2015 edition.

6.RoHS Compliant- this specification limits the use of specific dangerous materials present in electrical and electronic items.

Application
The Category 6 Riser Cable from Nassau Electrical Supply has been specially engineered for total fire safety and thus it is ideal to run in the plenum spaces of your commercial and residential building.
