Uses and Applications of Type G Industrial Power Cable
Type G Industrial Power Cables are almost similar as Type GG – C Industrial Power Cables. Type G cables are rated at 2000 volts and are available in conductor sizes ranging from 8 AWG through 500 MCM.The cable is constructed using fully annealed stranded bare copper conductors. The insulation is provided by premium grade Ethylene Propylene, otherwise known as EPDM.
Unique Technical Featuresof Type G Industrial Power Cable
As with the Type GG – C Industrial Power Cables, Type G cables also are designed to have maximum flex life owing to its rope lay stranding used for manufacturing. These cables have been specially designed to have excellent impact resistance as well as abrasion resistance. The cable can withstand exposure to a wide range of conditions including oil, acids, alkalis, heat, moisture, sunlight and most of the chemicals. The temperature rating for the cable is set between the ranges -40°C to 90°C.The cables are UL Listed, CSA and MSHA approved and RoHS Compliant. They also meet the FT-5 Flame Test.
Specific Applications of Type G Industrial Power Cable
Type G Industrial Power Cable are suitable for applications that use power cables rated at 2000 volts and temperature at 90°C for dry locations and 75°C for wet locations. Type G cables can be used in industrial and light to medium duty mining applications, as power supply cables in heavy duty service applications and as power cables for portable electrical equipment at a conductor temperature of 90°C.Type G cables are suitable for using in marine or wet applications. They can also be used on three-phase AC systems where 3 or 4 conductors are needed and grounding is also required. Other recommended applications for these types of cables are oil drilling platforms, shipyards, marinas, mining and mineral processing facilities.
