Product Description:
This multiconductor cable features a flattened design to maximize crush and impact resistance. The cable comes with the option of two or three conductors. Class C soft drawn bare copper phase conductors make up the cables conductive components. The conductors used in this cable align with standards established by the American Society for Testing and Materials; standards B3 and B8. Class C copper wire is characterized by its excellent flexibility as it is the second most flexible class of copper on the market. Each individual conductor is insulated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC) insulation. The insulation protects the conductors from being damaged from high heat, moisture, and abrasion. The assembly also includes an insulated Class C, soft drawn bare copper ground wire. The ground wire serves to ensure steady conductivity over the life of the cable. A nylon jacket is applied to the surface of the PVC insulation to separate the insulation from the jacket. All of the conductors including the ground conductor are color coded for identification. The assembly of cables is aligned in a flat side-by-side orientation to minimize damage from being crushed or impacted by heavy objects. A PVC jacket is applied directly to the surface of the PVC insulation.
Applications:
The cable’s flat construction and double-jacketed design allow this cable to be used in several types of heavy-duty applications. The Flat Submersible Pump Cable 2 & 3 Conductor w/ Ground is typically used in fresh and salt water pump applications where there is a high risk of the cable being crushed or impacted. The cable is approved to carry ampacities of up to and including 600 volts. The cable is used in pools, fountains, and sprinkler systems. It is also used in well casings or deep well wiring systems. It can be used for indoor or outdoor applications and holds a maximum temperature rating of 75°C when wet and 90°C when dry.
Specifications:
- In accordance with specifications set forth by the American Society for Testing and Materials, the conductive components of this cable align with ASTM standards B3 for annealed copper and B8 for stranded copper wires.
- The cable also meets Underwriters Laboratories standard UL83, a specification for thermoset, high heat-resistant, nylon insulated cables.
- The cable is compliant with regulations set forth by the Mining Safety and Health Administration.
